The remodel of this Colonial style home in Springdale balances classic symmetry with contemporary living, pairing timeless brickwork and gabled lines with open-plan interiors, oversized windows, and warm natural finishes for a home that feels both rooted and refreshed. These clients were in tears with extreme buyers remorse when they approached Matisse Architecture & Design Studios. The inside was closed off and dark with no access to the incredible views outdoors. The entry was lackluster, the exterior plain, the kitchen was tiny and disconnected, and the pantry was across the hall. We opened the main rooms using columns to create an open floorplan, the natural light and incredible view now flowing throughout the house. To expand and open the kitchen, we gutted it, blew out a closet along with some walls, and added a vaulted ceiling. We also vaulted the ceiling in the entre and created curb appeal with a new entry portico. With the help of Gosnell Construction we turned the clients’ frowns upside down.
