This Modern Farmhouse project in Northwest Arkansas and the challenge of building it on a steep site highlights the importance of working with an architect who has experience with slopes. These clients worked with a local draftsman who designed their home $130,000 over budget in 2017 leading them to look for a better alternative. In working with Matisse Studios, we redesigned their home and were able to shave off 300 square feet, making the design more compact and therefore more affordable to build on the hillside. The clients ended up getting more than what they wanted and within budget. They said, “Every inch of the space is efficiently designed and utilized.” We also enjoyed working with the builders on this project, GB Group Construction.
